Kelechi Njoku

Kelechi Njoku graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2023 on a Global Voices Scholarship. In 2022, he was an inaugural fellow of the Rajat Neogy Editorial Fellowship with A Long House magazine and was mentored by the novelist Maaza Mengiste. In 2020, he was a writer-in-residence at Black Rock, a residency in Dakar, Senegal, established by American visual artist Kehinde Wiley. He has been shortlisted for the 2017 Commonwealth Short Story Prize, and previously won the Writivism Short Story Prize, West Africa region. His writing appears in adda, Litro, Brittle Paper, and This Is Africa. In the last seven years, he has worked with several organisations devoted to developing literature and learning in Africa—the Afritondo Short Story Prize; Purple Hibiscus Trust Creative Writing Workshop; the inaugural Dusty Manuscript Prize, Nigeria; Writivism Short Story Prize; Peripheral Vision International; and the Aké Arts and Book Festival. His stories have been spotlighted by The Book Banque (“9 Stories You Should Read”) and Brittle Paper (“79 notable pieces of 2017”). He was a senior editor at Kachifo, copy editor at Bakwa, and co-founding editor at 14.
